Allies

These are individuals that  your character knows they can count on when they ask for help. Some allies will be willing to do more than others; one might be willing to die for your character, while another might only be willing to make a few small concessions on their behalf. Equally, some allies have little benefit to offer while others command great abilities or power over others that can be relied on.

Allies should be crafted individually, they are people who will help make up the vast NPC landscape of our world. For each ally, you will need to define who they are and what their relationship is with your character. This includes their name, their home location, what race they are, any affiliations or power they hold, how your character encountered them, any key history between your character and their ally, and what their current relationship is. Each ally will have a character sheet of their own which will be created by the ST team with relevant input and direction from the player.

We will then work with you to establish ranking them against the starting relationship and power of each ally. This background represents a starting position; your character’s relationship with the ally, and their power level, may change as the game evolves. The level of this background for each ally is individual and calculated by adding the Relationship to the Power of the individual. The minimum level for an ally background is therefore 2 (Relationship 1 and Power 1) and the maximum level for an ally is 5 meaning you cannot have an Ally with both an Eternal Relationship and Major Power.

Relationship Ratings

Level Relationship
⚫⚪⚪⚪⚪ Passing: You have a debt or bond between the two, but your ally will not cause themselves significant risk or danger to aid you.
⚫⚫⚪⚪⚪ Strong: This person will put themselves at great risk for your character.
⚫⚫⚫⚪⚪ Eternal: This ally would die for you.

Power Ratings

Level Power
⚫⚪⚪⚪⚪ Minor: The individual is a local player in a specific town or city and/or has some limited skill in a particular area.
⚫⚫⚪⚪⚪ Average: The individual has a reasonable sway across a local area and perhaps beyond and/or is well skilled or able in their areas of expertise.
⚫⚫⚫⚪⚪ Major: This individual is a major player in their area, has wide-ranging influence or has significant personal ability or power.

This background can be taken multiple times, with a new ally being made each time and each one needing to be defined.  Allies which are Ghouls under your character’s control will apply a penalty to feeding checks, to represent needing to feed them.

If you wish an ally to be a supernatural entity other than a vampire or ghoul, then you will need to take a merit for this to be the case, and this will need to be purchased for each ally that you wish to be supernatural. The ST team will limit the number of supernatural entities or the specific individuals you can choose to have as allies, so please discuss with us before making plans.
