Status

Also referred to as The Greasy Pole, Status represents a character's position in vampire society. The status purchased at character generation is the starting status a character will have for their first session. After this, their status will then increase and decrease as a result of their actions and based on the opinions of others.

    Valued: You are beginning to hold some sway in the court and your voice is more likely to be heard and valued.

    Respected: You hold respect amongst your peers and your betters are likely to acknowledge your voice and request your counsel, you may find yourself being asked to vouch for others with less standing.

    Admired: Many seek you out for your support and listen for your opinion on important matters, you hold significant sway across the court with your actions.

    Esteemed: You are considered a leader in your court and respected in many others.

Status levels do go beyond 5, but it is only possible to purchase up to 5 levels of the status background. There are also Merits or Flaws which may increase or decrease your character’s status accordingly. Keep in mind that Merits or Flaws only affect their starting status, and they can gain or lose this through play. There may be additional narrative impacts which remain as a result of taking these Merits and Flaws.

Some of these Merits relate to 'Positions'. Positions held will grant additional levels of Status, but these are temporary and will last only as long as the position is held by the character. If at any point they lose the position, the Merit is lost and their status will drop by an equal amount.
