DowntimE… Time

Each downtime period, a character will have 4 actions that they can use to pursue goals and complete activities. Whether the downtime period lasts for 6 in-game months or 10 in-game years years, the number of actions will still be 4 in order to maintain consistency for planning. There will also be a standard section of questions at the beginning of the downtime submission form, some of which are mandatory and some of which will be optional.

The Passage of Time

Due to the lengthy downtime periods we are using for this game, all of your actions are considered to be occurring simultaneously over the downtime period. Therefore if you are acting in concert with other players, you do not need to coordinate a specific downtime action slot together.

While actions occur in parallel, there may still be some instances where it is not possible to take part in two particular downtime actions. For instance if a ritual has to happen simultaneously both in Vienna and Paris, then you can't be in both places at the same time. These instances are likely to be rare, so the ST team will do their best to clarify this before downtime actions are submitted and contact players if they spot anything awry afterwards. If an ST does contact you about a clash of downtime actions, please respond as soon as you can so that we can keep to our timings between sessions.

Please also keep in mind that unlike other games where the downtime periods tend to be shorter, our shortest downtime period is likely to be 6 in-game months and will often be a number of years. Therefore please consider this scale when submitting your downtime actions. If you want to build a church in your domain, then state that you are building a church, rather than putting individual downtime actions towards buying building materials or recruiting priests. If you are uncertain if what your character is trying to achieve is too significant for a single downtime action, then ask the ST team and they will give you some guidance on whether it needs splitting out.

In the rare case where a player has multiple characters, they may only submit downtime actions for one of them. For any other characters, they will be managed as NPCs by the ST team.
