Boons and Death
What happens to boons when a vampire dies?
If a vampire dies at the hands of another vampire acting on their own agency:
All of their debts transfer to their killer at their current level
All of their credits go to their next of kin, reduced by one step
If a vampire dies at the hands of a vampire who was acting on the orders of the Prince of the Domain, where there was a formally issued Blood Hunt, or where a law of the domain has been broken and the Prince formally ruled death as punishment:
All of their debts and credits go to their next of kin, reduced by one step
If a vampire dies due to unknown causes, or the cause is not kindred-related:
All of their debts and credits go to their next of kin, reduced by one step
If a vampiric killer is later identified, debts are transferred to the killer at their original value
Definitions
Debt: A boon that the dead vampire owed
Credit: A boon that was owed to the dead vampire
Next of Kin: Sire, if known and alive. Then Childer, oldest first, Grandchilder, so on. If no suitable next of kin exists, the debts and credits are dissolved.
